Accident tonight ties up Highway 50 in Carson City; Careflight lands at high school
A single-vehicle accident tonight in Carson City on Highway 50 has traffic tied up near China East restaurant.
The car accident, reported at 5:49 p.m., happened moments after a CareFlight helicopter had landed at Carson High School to pick up a patient who, in a separate incident, fell at their home near the Carson City Fire Station and experienced possible life-threatening injuries.
In the Highway 50 accident near China East, the driver apparently hit a median, a rock, power poles and possibly a building near Subway restaurant. As witnesses went to his aide, he was reportedly not breathing and had no pulse, according to police scanner traffic. CPR chest compressions were immediately administered, according to scanner traffic.
Rescue personnel arrived at the scene of the accident as rescue personnel at the high school prepared for the CareFlight air ambulance to take off. The accidental fall which required CareFlight was reported at 5:31 p.m.
