An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at a local casino for minor consuming, possessing alcohol in public; false identification to avoid prosecution; and a felony juvenile probation violation warrant.

Responders called to fatal crash near Deer Run and Highway 50 in Carson City

UPDATE SUNDAY: Three vehicles were involved in Saturday afternoon's fatal crash on Highway 50 near Deer Run Road in Carson City. One person died. One suffered minor injuries. The name of the person who died has not been released. The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

'Show and Shine' Fundraiser held for Carson City man in critical condition after car accident

A fundraiser is being held for local Carson City man John "JT" Tomaroy, who was involved in a head-on collision while coming home from Las Vegas, and he is now in critical condition at Renown.

A "Show and Shine" fundraiser will be held to raise funds for JT and his family on Sunday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Seeley Loop of Mills Park, located at 1111 East Williams Street.

There will be raffles, food and music and awards for the top five. Registration is $20, and all proceeds will be given to the family.

Local Carson City barber in critical condition after car crash

A local barber, Brandon Baxter, who is training at Carson City’s Cipriani’s downtown barber shop was involved in a car accident last Tuesday, and a gofundme has been set up for his family while he is in critical care at UC Davis. He was returning home from barber school when the incident occurred.

Carson City Soroptimist to present annual awards and scholarships

Senator Square: Carson High School's Carneta yearbook staff have successful year

As the school year comes to an end, the 2018-2019 Carneta yearbook staff can finally slow down and take a breath. At the end of the week before Spring Break, at 8:30 p.m., the final pages were submitted, and the book was officially finished. After months of interviewing, photographing, and editing, the book is currently being printed by Walsworth Publishing Co., in Marceline, Kansas.

Carson City Soroptimist to honor five at January meeting, accepting applications until April 15

For my 2019 Senior Project, a Carson High School graduation requirement, I chose to be the coordinator and director of the annual junior cheer camp because I want to increase my knowledge and understanding on how to put on a special event; I also desire to improve my personal leadership, communication, and delegation skills.

Throughout the day today, the administration at Carson High School has provided and will continue to provide, as needed this week, grief counseling and support for students and staff. As more is learned about a memorial service, we will pass that information along.”

Family members confirmed via social media Sunday that 16-year-old Carson High School student Timothy Jones, one of seven students involved in a Nov. 9 crash on Kings Canyon, has died.
