Bently Nevada delivers Christmas to communities affected by COVID-19
This December, dozens of Bently Nevada employees came together once more to support local families in need through the Adopt a Family Program.
Teams helped deliver Christmas to a number of Douglas County and Carson City families this holiday season hard-hit by COVID-19 and other economic challenges. The families selected by the Ron Wood Family Resource Center included single parent families, families caring for aging parents, and families who had lost employment. Bently Nevada, a Baker Hughes business, encourages employees to support the community in meaningful ways.
For the past three years, the employee group Bently Nevada Leaders of Tomorrow has organized the drive to collect presents and gift cards for the families during December. Leaders and employees from Manufacturing, Aramark, Engineering, Communications, Marketing, and Finance generously contributed more than 100 gifts and hundreds of dollars in gift cards. The gift cards help pay for Christmas dinner, ensuring that every member of the families has both gifts and a Christmas meal.
The group President and Electrical Engineer Stephen Rehm was moved by the experience. He commented, "It is really great to see that even when the sun goes down early, we have plenty of employees willing to burn some extra candles to share some much needed warmth for the holidays — and this season was no exception. It's become an expectation here — People just want to know how they can help, and I'm glad we were able to put together such a great team to make this happen — COVID restrictions and all!" Site leader and CFO Chad Cox remarked, "Blessing others through the Adopt a Family program at Christmas has blessed my team." Gifts included clothing, work shoes, games, toys, books, art supplies, game controllers, and even diapers.
Employees wrapped the presents and tagged each one to be sure every child gets their designated gifts. Employees delivered the gifts to the Ron Wood Center for distribution to the families before Christmas.
The Adopt a Family program this year was especially important to families hard hit by the impact of Covid-19 and job loss. To donate to the cause, please contact the Ron Wood Center, (775) 884-2269.
