Panorama of Orion Clemens Home in Carson City
This panorama photograph by randomnevada.blogspot.com is of the home that Orion Clemens had built when he became Territorial Secretary to Governor Nye, before Nevada was even a state. Orion Clemens was the older brother of (soon to be famous) Samuel Clemens — who we all know today as Mark Twain.
Orion Clemens lived here with his wife Mollie and daughter Jennie. Orion Clemens young daughter Jeannie died while the family was living in this house, and her death started Mark Twain's famous life long crusade against undertakers-who Twain believed took advantage of people's grief to make huge profits.
Thanks to twainquotes.com for this story about Mark Twain's niece, Jennie, and his war with undertakers.
More information on the house from Wikipedia:

The house was built for Orion Clemens, was the first Secretary of the Nevada Territory. The house was long ago also sometimes known as the Governor's Mansion from times when Orion was Governor Pro Tem, when Governor Nye was away. The house often hosted Mark Twain, brother of Orion.
When the house was originally built, the outside siding was wood.
