Celebrating the Silver State: Nevada Day Treasure Hunt returns, clues begin today
The highly anticipated Nevada Day Treasure Hunt is back this year, kicking off today, Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024. This beloved annual tradition invites Nevadans to test their puzzle-solving skills by deciphering historical and geographical clues to uncover a hidden medallion somewhere in the state. With a $1,000 prize up for grabs, participants are gearing up for another exciting adventure through Nevada’s rich heritage.
The Nevada Day Treasure Hunt has been a cherished event since 2000, bringing together families, friends and communities to explore the state's diverse history, geography, and culture. Throughout the month of October, new clues will be posted on the official Nevada Day Treasure Hunt website and social media channels, challenging participants to engage with Nevada’s past and present in their quest to find the hidden treasure.
Last year, Cory Fleming, Alex Mingo, and Ryan and Justin Katausky claimed victory, locating the medallion at Sun Valley Regional Park in Washoe County after deciphering just seven clues. Their teamwork and love for the hunt exemplify the spirit of this annual event, which has now become a cherished tradition for many.
“This year, we’re excited to kick off another thrilling Nevada Day Treasure Hunt,” said Michele Montoya, spokesperson for the Nevada Day Treasure Hunt Committee. “We look forward to seeing new and returning participants join the fun, uncovering clues, and celebrating Nevada’s history.”
