Obituary: Nevada outdoorsman, firefighter and artist David E. Wise
David Wise, age 82, passed away on August 29, 2019. Dave was a 2nd generation Nevadan born in Carson City on July 14, 1937 to Roy and Lynn (Stewart) Wise. He was an amazing man who loved life, he was easy going, caring, funny, loving, and always had the most positive attitude. He was always smiling, even in the end.
He was so well liked, loved by others and had so many friends who thought highly of him. He loved his family and his extended family who just simply became his family.
Married for 50 years to Nilva (Verner) Wise and both would love to have had another 50 years together. He enlisted in the Navy after graduating from high school and served for 2 years.
Then he went to college in Utah for 2 years and then came back to Carson City and went to work for the Carson City Fire Department as a firefighter, when he was off duty he had a sign painting business. Eventually he went from the fire department to a job at the Nevada Department of Transportation in their graphic arts and mapping division. He became the head of that division and retired after 30 years there.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, both dirt and street bikes, walking, hiking, boating, fishing, camping, 4 wheeling, exploring the back roads, and traveling. He enjoyed making beautiful things from wood and was a wonderful artist.
He is survived by his wife Nilva Wise, his brother and sister in law of Santa Barbara, Calif., William and Mona Wise, sister in law Nita Wise of Reno, NV, brother in law and sister in law, Dennis and Lisa Verner of Winnemucca, NV. Numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who he thought the world of.
