AAUW Capital Branch Membership Brunch
The Capital Branch of American Association of University Women will be kicking off their 2015-16 program year with a Brunch on Saturday September 12th from 10AM to noon. They are celebrating over 70 years of advocacy for equity for women and girls in Carson City and surrounding communities.
"The AAUW Capital Branch is a motivated group of educated women who advocate for women and girls," said Jane Johnson, President. "Our meetings focus on issues that affect women and children today. As one of nearly 1,000 branches across the United States, the Capital Branch supports programs and issues that will achieve broader equity for women and girls."
Those attending the membership Brunch will receive an overview of AAUW, highlights of the history of the Capital Branch as well as information about the upcoming programs for the 2015-16 program year including our annual fundraising activities. Proceeds from the pecan sales and the Feast of Chocolate provide scholarships to local area women graduates or to women resuming their education at Western Nevada College and to the AAUW Educational Opportunities Fund.
Membership in AAUW is open to anyone holding an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate, or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Individuals who have received honorary degrees from qualified institutions are also eligible for membership.
