Carson City's Ron Wood center receives $12K worth of Bombas socks to give to those in need
The Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City received a donation of 1,000 pair of Bombas socks. The donation, valued at $12,000, comes from Bombas' thoughtfulness of "Giving Back" to the community.
For every pair of Bombas socks sold, Bombas donates a pair to non-profit agencies to help the homeless and families in need. Go here to learn more about the company.
A pair of socks may not seem like a lot to some of us, but for an individual that doesn't eat daily, is sleeping out in the cold or just not able to purchase a new pair, a new pair of socks brings a smile to their face.
Headquartered in New York City, Bombas was founded in 2013 by Randy Goldberg and David Heath. The two launched the company after seeing a Facebook post that mentioned the need for socks at homeless shelters. They adopted the one-for-one business model where the company would donate one pair of socks for each one purchased.
The Bombas website notes that so far it has donated more than 10 million pairs of socks.
The mission of the Ron Wood Family Resource Center is to create a lasting community-wide cooperative effort between the private sector and governmental agencies to promote healthy family relationships through education and support services. The center currently offer several services that range from basic needs assistance to parenting classes and after school programs.
