Guitarist Craig Fletcher featured May 2 on The Brother Dan Show at Bank Saloon
Local musician Craig Fletcher marks his return from Mexico as he returns to The Brother Dan Show on May 2. Well-known to local audiences due to his near-two-decade run performing at Glen Eagles, Fletcher is a very accomplished multi-instrumentalist (mainly guitar), singer, and recording engineer.
While many modern musicians play along with recordings and digital tracks, very few of them actually play and record their own instruments, as Craig does. Each backing track takes nearly 40 hours of work, as each instrument’s part must be mastered, even before the mixing process can begin. That work is well worth it, though, as each song is burned into his memory during the process, preparing him for performing as much of the music live as his two hands can manage.
While his own career consumes much of his time, Fletcher does find time to record and produce for other artists, and in fact recorded host Brother Dan Palmer’s first all-original CD “Nothing Better Than This” at his home studio in Carson City in 2007. He can also be found performing with other groups including local jazz line-up Impromptu.
Craig will join Brother Dan at the Bank Saloon in Carson City for an afternoon of chat and music, as the two get a rare chance to perform together. With their combined repertoires, the jams and improvisations that result are likely to wander through assorted genres and eras, and will likely touch on rock, jazz, blues, reggae, and country, all in one sitting. Along the way, we’ll learn about Craig’s latest adventures south of the border, and the things he has planned for the upcoming summer season.
The Brother Dan Show features a revolving cast of guest artists, who join Brother Dan for an afternoon of music making and chat. The show offers audiences a chance to get to know a wide variety of skilled musical artists, as they improvise and make music together, often for the first time.
Music starts at 4:30pm on Mondays, with free munchies from Mangia Tutto, and the show streams live on Facebook starting at 5:00pm on the host’s music page: Brother Dan Palmer
