Douglas County Sheriff's Office looking for suspected window shooter
At approximately 5:30 am on Sunday, March 25th, 2012, deputies of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a call of suspicious circumstances - possible shots fired at the Nevada Ugly Bar, 1433 US Hwy 395, Gardnerville, Nevada.
Upon arrival at the location, deputies observed the front glass window of the business was fractured with numerous cracks.
The reporting party, a bartender for the Nevada Ugly Bar, stated he had been cleaning up inside the bar after closing approximately two hours earlier. He stated he heard a loud “pop” from outside the business, and simultaneously saw the front window fracture and break. He immediately called DCSO dispatch to report the incident.
Deputies checked the damaged window further, and saw that in addition to the numerous cracks, there was a small hole in the glass. The size of the hole is consistent with the size of small caliber ammunition.
Deputies checked surrounding businesses and noted that a window in the front door of the business next door also had a small hole in it, and the glass was fractured with numerous cracks.
It is believed person(s) unknown shot the windows of the two businesses with an unknown firearm.
No suspects or suspect vehicles were observed in the area at the time of the incident, and no one was injured in the incident.
It is possible the incident was perpetrated by a patron of the Nevada Ugly Bar who was escorted out of the bar earlier after refusing to leave at closing time.
Investigation of this incident continues.
