Black History Program at Adams Hub Feb. 21
First Choice Consulting presents a Black History Program at the Studio, located inside the Adams Business Hub, 111 W. Proctor Street in Carson City.
According to Michael Smith, CEO of First Choice Consulting, a premier educational consultant firm will present a video screening titled "Educating Black Boys" after the 30 minute video screening there will be a discussion and reflections opportunity.
Immediately afterward the video screening, attendees will have an opportunity to sample soul food delicacies prepared by members of the community.
The Soul Food Cooking contest is open to anyone who has a special soul food dish, or think they can prepare food for the soul.
The program will begin at 6 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.
Suggested Soul Food categories include, but are not limited to meats — fried chicken, smothered pork chops — and sides — smoky mac and cheese, hoppin' john, collard greens, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, red drink and, of course, chitlins (washed and cleaned at least four-five times).
"Soul food is what your grandmother made on Sunday after spending hours in the kitchen," according to Smith.
Judges will have the dubious task of deciding whose dish will receive the first, second and third places.
This is a free event, Smith encourages everyone to come out to make this Inaugural Black History Program a success. For additional Information please contact Michael Smith at 775-508-9305 or smithm410@yahoo.com.
