Beginning Beekeeping Workshop held Feb. 10-11 in Douglas County
Back by popular demand! The beginning beekeeping workshop will be held on February 10 and 11 at Adams Hub for Innovation, Carson City. As usual, there is a great line-up of speakers and topics.
Topics include everything from bee anatomy, equipment, and hive inspections, to diseases and pests, planting for pollinators, and treasures and tastings from the hive.
Lindsay Chichester, Douglas County Extension Educator, and fourth-year beekeeper is excited to provide this educational opportunity to new beekeepers to teach them the foundation needed for beekeeping.
In addition to Chichester, other speakers include Del Barber, Ed.D. a multi-generational and certified Master Beekeeper who founded the Great Basin Beekeepers; Jessica Gardner, Douglas County Horticulture Outreach Coordinator; and Daunelle and Weldon Wulstein with Sierra Shadows Honey and Lavender Farm.
“This event is always a lot of fun because not only are beekeepers teaching beekeepers, but we are building a network of like-minded people who are interested in the important role our pollinators play,” says Chichester.
Ticket prices are set at reasonable rates to encourage youth and families to attend together, so they can enjoy this as a family hobby.
