2017 Carson River Watershed Management Forum (First Day)
CARSON CITY— The Carson River Coalition invites you to the 2017 Carson River Watershed Management Forum. The Carson River Watershed is truly “A Lifeline Connecting Our Communities.”
The careful management of this important resource helps provide our communities with clean drinking water, economic stability, and sustainable natural landscapes. The “Carson River Watershed Management Forum” is your opportunity to learn about the extraordinary efforts being implemented by multiple organizations working together to manage, conserve, and protect our watershed, its floodplains, and many natural resources.
Forum associated events include:
February 21 (Tuesday) A full-day bus tour of the mercury superfund site on the lower Carson River. RSVP today Seating for this event is limited
February 22 (Wednesday) The first day of the Carson River Watershed Management Forum. The mercury superfund workshop will be held in the morning.
February 23 (Thursday) The second day of the Carson River Watershed Management Forum.
This year’s forum will start with a full-day Bus Tour on February 21 (Tuesday) of the Mercury Superfund Site on the lower Carson River. Seating is limited, and those who participate in the field trip are encouraged to attend the Mercury Workshop Shop on the following day. The full-day tour will include historic source sites and areas under investigation, with discussions on the remedial investigation and the feasibility study.
Following the bus tour the Carson River Watershed Management Forum will be a 2-day event held February 22 (Wednesday) and February 23 (Thursday). The forum will run from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm (doors open @ 8:30). The 2017 forum will be hosted in the Auditorium of the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William Street Carson City, NV 89701.
Expert presenters will cover topics pertinent to the management of the Carson River. Topics will include: riparian restoration, water quality and quantity, stormwater, flooding and floodplain management, invasive species, agriculture, recreation, and education/outreach programs. We are working now to make CEU credits available for teachers and APA planners, and PDH hours available for engineers.
