Women to Women part II panel interview with Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong

A panel of seven Carson City area women met recently with Sheriff Ken Furlong to discuss law enforcement issues facing Carson City.

Among several subjects addressed, Furlong spoke candidly about elder abuse, gun control and mental health issues, crime prevention and working with the Carson City School District in the second installment of a two-part "Women to Women with Carol Paz" panel discussion.

Nevada GOP Central Committee hosts Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at dinner

Meeting in Carson City this weekend, the Nevada Republican State Central Committee featured Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at a dinner held at the Governor's Mansion Friday.
Earlier in the day Nevada's GOP Central Committee members attended sessions at the Nevada State Legislature.
Saturday's activities include caucus meetings and a keynote address by Tea Party organizer Heather Gass.

New Carson Tahoe Cardiology Office Expands Options for Reno Patients

Carson Tahoe Cardiology’s new Reno office at 6880 South McCarran Boulevard, Suite 4 is now open and serving patients. The new location is fully staffed and supported by seven cardiologists and three physician assistants.

The office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

“We have been serving Reno patients looking for quality cardiology alternatives for several years,” said Dr. David Baker. “It is great to provide them with the convenience of our new location and we are excited to be able to offer our services to more of our new neighbors.”

If you have a 2013 California fishing license and if you are looking for somewhere to fish that is fairly close to the Carson City area, look no further than Indian Creek Reservoir (ICR) in nearby Alpine County.
You just might want to seriously consider ICR as it contains cutthroat, brown and rainbow trout, plus even some bass.

That trout-filled reservoir is a mere 39 miles from our front door and it is easily reached from here by two different directions:

Earlier this year Tiffani Barber of Carson City was diagnosed with gliobalstoma, the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumor. She found herself at age 24 in the fight for her life.

'Vagina Monologues' performance March 30 to benefit Advocates to End Domestic Violence

The “Vagina Monologues” will be performed March 30 in The Bob Boldrick Theater at Carson City Community Center in a benefit for Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

Chamber Blood Drive attracts Carson City mayor, sheriff and DA

The Carson City Chamber Blood Drive Challenge took off early Monday morning with the city's top officials donating blood. Arriving early, Sheriff Kenny Furlong was the first in line to give blood, followed by District Attorney Neil Rombardo.

Mayor Robert Crowell gave it a good try, but his iron was off a fraction of a point thus was denied the opportunity. He stuck around, however, to give Furlong and Rombardo moral support. The first Chamber board member to give blood this morning was Curt Spradley of Carson Coffee.
