Carson City Fire Department and multiple agencies are hosting a Wildfire Preparedness Workshop for the community. With the long winter of rain and snow, we have the potential for a busy fire season. Residents are encouraged to register for the free workshop to help prepare for wildfires in our community.

Carson City Juvenile Services will be hosting an awareness and education event for sexual abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking of children.

The event will be hosted at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Ormsby Room on July 11, 2023, from 5:30 pm through 7:30 pm.

The Nevada Artists Association has announced the winners in the “Spirit of America Show” that runs from June 18-July 28. There are 137 entries in the show from 57 local member and non-member artists in 10 different categories.

UPDATE: Carson City’s Computer Corps Technology Learning Center is hosting opportunity workshops this summer for volunteers at their location, 4630 US Highway 50 E.

Individuals anywhere from 9 to 90 are invited to attend this program, where they’ll be able to learn about 26 different opportunities for gaining life skills and helping others.

All volunteers will earn a computer after 48 hours of volunteering, and snacks and refreshments will be served. Free lunch Monday through Saturday at noon.

A free stargazing event will be held at the Silver-Stage Library in Silver Springs on Friday June 16 at 9pm. This program is led by members of the Western Nevada Astronomical Society.

The annual Father’s Day Powwow is back this weekend at the Stewart Indian School Museum and Cultural Center in Carson City beginning Friday, June 16 through Sunday June 18.

Thanks to NV Energy Foundation’s generous donation to Western Nevada College Foundation and the fundraising efforts of Carson City Chamber’s 2023 Leadership Institute, the college’s Veterans Resource Center has transformed into a home-away-from home for the college’s veterans with many new amenities and technology.
