Once a month the Maizie Theater in Brewery Arts Center hosts rising stars in the songwriting world from both near and far. Friday Feb. 9 features The Wolf Creek Boys with opening act Will Houk.

There will be a "Shining a light" candlelight memorial vigil Friday for Ella Márquez Conchas, 10, who died Jan. 23 in a pedestrian accident on US-50 in Mound House.

All are welcome to attend as a show of support for Ella Márquez Conchas and family. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. at on Friday at Dayton Elementary, 285 Old Dayton Road.

The Friends of the Douglas County Library will host a two-day used book sale, Friday and Saturday, February 16-17, at the Minden Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden.
