The Nevada Department of Transportation will contract for emergency safety repairs beginning Wednesday to remove hillside rocks from an area of recent rockfall on U.S. 50 near Cave Rock, Lake Tahoe.

Work will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. During that time, westbound travel lanes through the tunnel will be closed. Both directions of traffic will be alternated through the eastbound tunnel, with up to 30 minute travel delays to be expected, according to NDOT officials in a Tuesday news statement.
