The Silver City Preservation Society, with Evangeline Presents and Yellow Truck Productions is pleased to present An extraordinary duo of songwriters and musicians in a benefit concert in Silver City, Nev., on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m., doors at 6 p.m.

Last year, the Director of the Nevada State Museum, Dr. Josh Bonde, his wife Becky Hall, Director of the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, and their two daughters Nola Belle and Kiera were involved in a tragic car accident. All were seriously injured in the accident and Nola Belle lost her life.

Nola was a fourth grader at Bordewich Bray Elementary and brought kindness and joy to everyone around her. Nola was passionate about animals, art, music, and creating friendships.

This is my last article for 2023, but I’ll be back early next year. I thought I would look back on all the gardening experiences I had this year. The year started less than auspiciously. We were without power, water or heat for five days. That was followed by flooding, which provided our annual rainfall in one week.

On Saturday, local law enforcement agencies gathered at Fuji Park for a K9 showcase as part of the 2023 K9 Unit Challenge.

Apprehension and Agility events were on full display at Fuji’s main arena, where bleachers were provided for public viewing (and cheering).

Come one and come all to the 1st annual party and fundraiser for Build2Win patrons and volunteers in the most happy place in Carson City, the Nashville Social Club.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is ramping up for the 2023 K9 Unit Challenge, happening this Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fuji Park in Carson City.

The event, open and free for the public to watch, features dozens of K9s from multiple agencies that will compete in three primary events: Patrol apprehension, odor detection, and agility.

Christine Lucille (Tassi) Reed passed away unexpectedly October 12, 2023 while with her grandson and daughter.

Born June 2, 1942, in Compton, California, Christine’s family settled in Susanville. Nick-named "Sassy Tassy" she was popular amongst her peers, a cheerleader and member of many school clubs. After graduating from Lassen High School she remained in California before moving to Carson City, Nevada in 1997.

Carson City Supervisors vote to reinstate business license for the Frontier Motel under the legal name of Five Star Motel LLC., doing business as the Royal Inn Motel.

Supervisors revoked the business license in 2021 after the motel was shut down by the Carson City Health Department due to a number of health code violations, as well as frequent visits from law enforcement.

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City, NV will host a Halloween Fun Shoot from 9:00am to 5:30pm.

After serving fifteen years in office as a First Judicial District Court Judge, James E. Wilson, Jr. announced his retirement. Judge Wilson was first elected to office in 2008 and has been re-elected two times since then.

Drug Take Back Day is October 28 this year

National Prescription Drug Take Back events offer safe ways to dispose of expired or unneeded prescription drugs.

As part of National Drug Take Back Day, Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC), AmeriCorps members with HCC, and Lyon County Sheriff's Office will come together to host drop off locations in Dayton and Silver Springs for unneeded medications.
