Carson City will be receiving a chunk of $3.7 million in federal money to construct an outdoor recreation visitor center, Nevada U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen said Tuesday.

Two California women were arrested Tuesday for multiple counts of alleged grand larceny, commercial burglary, conspiracy to obtain money using stolen credit cards and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Page has served as County Manager since June of 2010. Page has been with Lyon County since 1985 starting as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. Page worked for the Sheriff’s Office and held a variety of positions until he left in 2006 as a Captain.

A large number of evacuees from the Mosquito Fire in Placer and El Dorado counties in California were allowed back home Sunday. CalFire reports a containment line around 38 percent of the fire, and it is 76,290 acres in size. 3,722 personnel remain assigned to the fire.

After a two-year delay to endure a pandemic and then wild fires, 12 Pioneer Academy students and three staff were finally able to go on the outdoor canyoneering adventure to Rock Creek along the Feather River.

A program about the history and local impact of the Sutro Tunnel will be presented free to members of the Carson City Historical Society and the public on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Carriage House by Chris Pattison, project manager for the Friends of Sutro Tunnel, an organization that is working to restore the site as historically accurate as possible. Chris is also a board member for the Society.

An early season storm will bring cooler temperatures, and chances for rain around the Carson City region and high elevation snow above 9,000 feet through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
