A bipartisan group of lawmakers voted late Tuesday to approve the last of the state’s five budget bills in an emergency special session, sending the measure to Gov. Joe Lombardo as the final piece in a budget deal that crumbled at the 11th hour of the regular session.

Gov. Joe Lombardo issued a proclamation late Tuesday night calling on the Legislature to convene Wednesday morning for a second consecutive special session to discuss a $380 million public financing package to help fund a proposed Las Vegas stadium project for the Oakland A’s.

Nevada Native John Tom Ross passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 25th, 2023 at 93 years of age.

The Nevada Department of Transportation has closed Mason Road (State Route 827) in the Mason area due to a sinkhole. The sinkhole was likely created by high Walker River water levels flooding the nearby land.

The road is closed to through traffic between State Routes 339 and 208. This closed section of Mason Road travels east from Mason over the Walker River.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center is seeing an increase of callers using alternative contact methods when trying to reach public safety services.

In many cases, this is causing a delay in services being dispatched. For example, when requesting a Deputy to respond to a location, if the message is left on a voicemail or email platform, it is not likely to be received or read immediately, or in some cases, even on the same date as the message was left.
