On Saturday, May 7, 2022, at approximately 2:21 p.m., Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to reports of a fatal crash that occurred on US-50 in the area of Riverboat Road in Dayton.

MINDEN — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a a flatbed trailer reported stolen from the Johnson Lane area.

Just after 6:45 p.m. Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies and Nevada State Police troopers shut down Fairview at I-580.

Traffic has been blocked at this time in both directions.

According to dispatch, a felony traffic stop was conducted.

Motorists must seek alternate routes until the area has been cleared.

The most energy efficient school district in the state of Nevada, Carson City School District, took time to honor school leaders and students for sustainability efforts at its first inaugural “Green Impact” Awards Ceremony Thursday evening, May 12, 2022, at the Governor’s Mansion. Most notably, district leaders earned 3 of only 10 total Trailblazer Awards available nationally through the Green Schools National Network.

The Carson City Host Lions Club hosted the Annual Kids’ Fishing Day at Baily Pond in Fuji Park on Saturday, May 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event provided a good opportunity to introduce kids under the age of 12 to fishing and conservation. The Boy Scouts of Troop 33 and volunteers from the Douglas County Kids Fishing Derby helped prep the fishing poles and gear for the kids. About 75 children and their families attended.

UPDATE 4:34 p.m.: The escaped inmate is 38-year-old Andrew Cain Kristovich out of Portland, Ore.

Kristovich escaped from an Oregon Prison Camp in April.

After his escape, Kristovich allegedly went to the home of an ex girlfriend in Clark County, Wash. before raping and strangling the individual with her children present, at which point he absconded with her cell phone, vehicle and credit cards.
