The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range will be free to all users this Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021 in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the passage of the Question 18, the Quality of Life Initiative.

Nevada Street, Carson City, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. All local senior veterans are invited to join RSVP for pancakes, sausages, and beverages. The Carson City School District has two large projects under construction right now.

Local Rotarians will learn about them at the club’s next meeting on Tuesday, November 9th, at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

CARSON CITY — On Nov. 5, the Nevada Department of Transportation and Q&D Construction completed the first season of a multi-year project to enhance the existing roadway and utility system along sections of State Routes 431 and 28 to help preserve pavement and protect Lake Tahoe.

After Washoe County and Carson City each nominate an individual, they will jointly choose who will fill the senate seat.

In an effort to keep traffic on US50 and not in the neighborhoods in Meyers, a right-turn restriction pilot program was implemented this past summer.

With many weekend visitors leaving South Lake Tahoe during the same four-hour window, there is extra congestion on US50 in Meyers during this time. Combine this with heavy snowfall and highway closures, internet, and wayfinding apps finding more expeditious routes, people don't want to stay in line and leave in search of a quicker route.

A 23-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested early Friday morning for DUI 2nd after allegedly causing a crash on the freeway by driving in the wrong direction while under the influence.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area of the 580 and Arrowhead at around 12:45 a.m. on report of a head-on accident alert in the area.

Guest speaker at Monday's Democratic Women's Club meeting will be Sondra Cosgrove, PhD, Executive Director and Chair of the Board for Vote Nevada. Dr. Cosgrove, who is a professor of history at the College of Southern Nevada, will be presenting from Las Vegas via Zoom. She will provide an overview of the process by which Nevada's electoral districts will be redrawn by a special session of the legislature in line with the data produced by the 2020 census, and the ways in which the proposed districts will be rated for how well they conform to established standards of fairness.

Mike Wiencek, Brewery Arts Center Director of Operations, will speak via Zoom at Monday's Democratic luncheon. "Mikey," as he is universally known, has worked at the Brewery Arts Center since 2015, initially as a volunteer, and has played a key role in helping the BAC grow into the community arts hub that it is today.
