It seems as if the schools have failed miserably. I was under the impression that high school was to prepare students for an easy transition to college, the military or into the work force.

That’s certainly an option. The new “nodule” type nuclear fuel technology is nothing like the old stuff. It’s touted as being far safer. Worth exploring for sure.
