On Friday, several school districts in Northern Nevada including Washoe, Carson and Lyon became aware of a threat being circulating threatening a school shooting, with no specific school indicated. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the reports, and Lyon County issued a statement that the threats are not credible.

Veterans taking their lives continues to be a sad and unfortunate trend in the United States. Nevada has also experienced the same alarming suicide rates for veterans.

To help alert more people about the need to take necessary steps to prevent the tragic losses of these lives, Western Nevada College’s Veterans Resource Center is holding a Veterans Suicide Prevention and Awareness March on Saturday, May 6.

Three fifth graders from Fritsch Elementary School in Carson City competed in the National Archery Tournament at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy, Utah last weekend, April 28-29, 2023. Out of nearly 3,000 participants from more than 200 schools nationwide, Teddy Hohl shot a 241, Finn Russell shot a 199 and Wyatt Valentine shot a 160, earning them an overall ranking of 83, 186 and 211 respectively.

A 47-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, driving on a revoked license and drug paraphernalia, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.

Conditions and weather permitting, the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team will conduct prescribed fire operations this week at Lake Tahoe. CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - Thursday afternoon, The Professional Firefighters of Nevada (PFFN) held a dedication ceremony for a new firefighter memorial on the Capital Complex grounds in Carson City.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Sunday evening to a fire in a tree that was burning near a residence in the 2400 block of Lewis Drive.

A state fund used to grant compensation to victims of crime is at risk of being insolvent during the upcoming two-year budget period if additional money is not added to address a dwindling pot of federal dollars.

That would leave the state unable to issue payments to crime victims that are typically used to handle emergency needs such as funeral expenses, relocation costs and emergency therapy.
