On January 23, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Nevada State Police responded to a crash at the location of Eastbound US50 near Highlands Drive (Mile Marker 1) in Lyon County, Nevada.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Ford F-350 was traveling eastbound on US50 approaching Highlands Drive.
On January 24th, 2024, at about 2100 hours, Deputies responded to the 3400 block of Airport Road where a person had been stabbed. The caller reported the suspect had fled the area after stabbing the victim and pointing a firearm at him.
Miller Counseling is partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups to Carson City and the surrounding rural communities Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.
The Miller Counseling and Wellness Center is located at 104 W. Telegraph St. in Carson City.
The Center for Hope and Healing has been providing grief support to Douglas County for the last 10 years. The goal of building this partnership is to make the free support groups available and easier to access to more members of the Northern Nevada community.
While the official voting date for the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary is set for Tuesday, February 6, early voting will officially begin tomorrow, Saturday January 27 in Carson City.
Early elections will continue through Friday, February 2.

The Carson Water Subconservancy District (CWSD) Board of Directors presented the 2024 Andy Aldax Carson River Watershed Award to Dan Greytak and the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District (TCID).
The award, named for longtime CWSD Director Andy Aldax, recognizes the exemplary service of individuals and organizations who devote 10 years or more to conserving and protecting the Carson River Watershed.

Care Flight, a service of REMSA Health, celebrated the arrival of a new helicopter. The new aircraft, Care Flight 1, will begin service in late winter 2024, ensuring access to life-saving emergency medical care in rural Nevada. It will replace a similar, but older model helicopter. Care Flight 1 will be based in Fallon, Nevada as one of four in Care Flight’s fleet of helicopters.

Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Division is investigating a fatal crash, reportedly involving a juvenile pedestrian that happened Tuesday night on US-50 East near Red Rock.
A water line break Wednesday morning in the Eagle Station area between South Carson Street and Silver Sage is causing service disruption, including the Southpointe Drive area, according to Carson City Public Works.
According to a social media post at 10:12 a..m. the estimated time of repair is approximately five hours.

Folk music enthusiasts, mark your calendars. The winter of 2022-23 highlighted the South Lake Tahoe traffic issue created by people driving to Heavenly Mountain Resort for a day on the slopes during a storm. Heavy snow, excess vehicles and a lack of visible controls led to backups and cars parked wherever they pleased. The situation has been an issue for years, but the epic winter highlighted it more.
The lower valleys of western Nevada, Carson City and surrounding counties have been mostly a miss for any significant rain or snow from passing winter storms. Even by Sierra standards, winter thus far has been lackluster at Lake Tahoe and nothing compared to January 2023 when the snow started falling and never really stopped until late spring.
Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom announced Tuesday that a Carson City judge determined that a proposed ballot measure seeking to protect access to abortion in the state constitution meets statutory requirements and can go before voters for signature-gathering.
