CARSON CITY, Nev. — As I noted earlier this year, one of California’s two Free Fishing Days will be over the Labor Day holiday weekend on Saturday, Sept. 3.
The other Free Fishing Day was back on July 2. You can fish, all day, without a fishing license.
You will be able to fish wherever you like in California, without the need for a fishing license. However, you will need to abide by the rules and regulations that govern whatever water(s) you will be fishing.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — When shoppers use any reusable grocery bag — paper, plastic or canvas — at any Raley’s and Food Source store in Nevada, they will be helping more than the environment, they will also be raising money to preserve and enhance Nevada State Parks.

The Californians Turn In Poachers and Polluters program (CalTIP) will give up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of trout thieves. The thieves are responsible for stealing approximately 1,000 trout from the San Joaquin Hatchery last weekend.
The toll-free, 24-hour CalTIP hotline is 888-334-2258.
The value of the fish and the cost to repair the damage to the hatchery elevate the crime to a felony.

RENO- Aces are one win away from punching their first ticket ever into the Pacific Coast League Playoffs. The Fresno Grizzlies come into town for a four game series. With Reno having a seven game lead over second place Tacoma and only eight games left to play, the Aces have all but wrapped up their spot in the playoffs. A Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning after he allegedly had a juvenile female in his vehicle hide 22 grams of methamphetamine in her bra.

According to the arrest report, deputies were in the Carson River Road area checking out a report of a possible homicide. A woman reported that she and her friend were hitchhiking, and ended up at an abandoned house in the area with two male subjects. The woman said she ran away after hearing a gunshot, fearing that her friend had been killed.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Brenda Hunt has joined the Carson Water Subconservancy District staff as its new Watershed Coordinator. She replaces Genie Azad who left the district after nine years. Genie will continue natural resources work as a consultant.
