A possible structure fire was reported Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Poole Way near Carmine and Sherman.

According to dispatch, a woman lit a chair on fire inside of a residence, which then lit the floor on fire. Dispatch advised that an oxygen tank was present.

Clean Up the Lake, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has removed 8,183 pounds of trash from Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe.

Beginning in July 2020, the Clean Up The Lake dive teams completed a circumnavigated SCUBA clean up of Donner Lake, covering every inch of the 8 mile shoreline at depths of 0-25 feet removing all the smaller trash they could find that resulted in 5,151.5 pounds of trash removed from Donner Lake compared to 3,032 pounds of trash removed from the depths of Lake Tahoe.

Partnership Carson City, founded to develop a healthy community, and other partners are educating the community about how to safely dispose of prescription drugs this Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at Smith's Food and Drug Store, located at 599 E William St. Additionally, Partnership will have a collection box for safe disposal of sharps (syringes) and providing free Deterra Bags for safe-at-home disposal and lockboxes for storage.

Glen Lucky was born on Sept. 27, 1952, down in Coronado, Calif. He was like many other boys, cute, smart, happy to arrive, however, he was diagnosed with a birth defect, cerebral palsy, and his parents were advised he might not live to see 15. But Glen did live to see 15. He started riding a bike at 15, and 16 and 17. Glen turns 68 on Sunday.
