The 2023 Classical Tahoe festival presents four weeks of outdoor orchestra, chamber music, and jazz concerts in stunning settings on Lake Tahoe’s North Shore. Join us at the Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe to hear 70 virtuoso musicians from the top orchestras in the country for a festival of concerts and events for music lovers of all ages.

The music, mountains and lake truly come together at Classical Tahoe’s Chamber Concert Series at the Oasis, held on an exquisite lakefront estate of Ron and Maureen Ashley. Wine and Works by Camille Saint-Saëns, Gioacchino Rossini, and Clara Schumann.

In April, Carson City will rekindle Mark Twain’s Nevada roots with the inaugural Mark Twain Days Festival — a three-day celebration of fun and flapdoodle, Chautauqua and shenanigans, history and hijinks in downtown Carson City and at numerous locations around town. YERINGTON — On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution to propose the exchange of real property owned by Lyon County located at 158 Garnet Circle, Mound House, for real property owned by Central Lyon County Fire Protection District located at 56 Red Rock Road, Mound House, for the purpose of establishing a Mound House Community Center in the future.

Carson City Symphony Association announces the Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir has begun its 2023 Spring Semester. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., at an upstairs classroom at the First United Methodist Church, 412 W. Musser Street in Carson City. Sign ups continue until Tuesday, Feb. 7.

It has been one year since Anna Marie Scott, 23, was found shot to death in a burning car on the freeway between Reno and Carson City, and detectives still have no updates on her case.

On a chilly February morning, deputies and first responders were dispatched just after 4 a.m. to a stretch of the busy I-580 overpass between Carson City and Reno.

Back by popular demand! The beginning beekeeping workshop will be held on February 10 and 11 at Adams Hub for Innovation, Carson City. As usual, there is a great line-up of speakers and topics.

Topics include everything from bee anatomy, equipment, and hive inspections, to diseases and pests, planting for pollinators, and treasures and tastings from the hive.

Erica Kay Weigle was reported missing to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office on January 17th, 2023. Erica’s family reported her missing and is concerned for her safety. She was last seen around the 900 East Long Street in Carson City during the second week of January.

Free Spanish Language classes offered! Yolanda and Betty, native Spanish speakers, will teach Spanish on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.

Classes start February 14, 2023.

A winter storm will move into the region beginning late Saturday, bringing a rain and snow mix to the Carson City area and most valley floors with the Sierra seeing as much as 2 feet or more of snow by Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.
