UPDATE: The lowering of the flags coincides with National Fallen Firefighters Memorial weekend happening this weekend, Oct. 2-3. The 40th annual memorial weekend, honors fallen fire heroes, who died in the line of duty. Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be lowered to half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds in honor of firefighters and first responders. The Governor’s executive order aligns with a Presidential Proclamation issued by President Joe Biden to lower United States flags from sunrise to sunset on October 3, 2021.

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Lockdown", with art by Paula Chung, Nancy Raven, and Ted Rips at Western Nevada College’s Bristlecone Gallery, 2201 W College Parkway, Carson City.

The exhibition will be in the gallery from Oct. 4 – Dec. 22, 2021.

CCAI and WNC will host an artists’ reception on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; artist introductions at 5:30 p.m. The public is cordially invited.

The Brewery Arts Center has implemented some big changes in the last couple years and have been fortunate enough to receive major funding from the Commission For Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation as well as private funding to do some much needed improvements to preserve and make more sustainable their two block facility consisting of two historic buildings as well as implement new programming.

Due to ongoing drought conditions and low water levels at Fallen Leaf Lake causing dry conditions in Taylor Creek, the Fall Fish Festival, held annually at the Lake Tahoe Forest Service visitor center, has been canceled. The festival was also canceled in 2020 due to COVID concerns.

DAYTON — First round leader Sklyer Finnell, Santa Fe, Calif. carded a 3-under 66 in the second round for an 11-under 133 total at the halfway point to maintain a share of the lead.
