The Nevada Division of Emergency Management and the state's Department of Health and Human Services will be temporarily aligned with the Nevada Office of the Military for the duration of the COVID-19 public health crisis to ensure the entirety of Nevada’s state government is used effectively and efficiently in response to this unprecedented emergency situation, Gov. It snowed six inches last night. This followed the four inches it snowed a day or so before. I’m grateful for the extra moisture for the trees, the lawn, all my plants and all the native trees. As I wrote a few weeks ago, I had been doing the water on and off, drag hoses, drain lines boogie for a number of weeks. This water-laden snow is a welcome, although temporary, reprieve.

Yesterday Central Lyon County Fire Department responded to the Sutro Tunnel area for reports of an ATV accident. Crews were able to get all four occupants out to safety where they all received medical care.

A 76-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for felony violation of a stalking order Thursday afternoon.

According to the report, Helen Donner Kelly was arrested after a call came in from the protected party stating that Kelly was parked out front of the party’s house. It was then reported that Kelly was standing in the driveway.

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting two new positive cases of COVID-19 in the Quad County region: Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey counties. This brings the total number of cases in the Quad-County region to 11.

UPDATE 12:30 p.m.:

On March 27, 2020, at approximately 5:54 AM, a Nevada Highway Patrol Sergeant had stopped to assist a motorist on US-93 and White Pine county mile marker 106, north of Ely, NV. During this contact, the motorist open fired on Sgt. Ben Jenkins, who was struck and killed. The motorist stole the Sergeant’s uniform and fled the scene in Sgt. Jenkins’ patrol vehicle. Following a search that lasted several hours, the suspect, John Dabritz, a 65-year-old White Pine resident, was located and taken into custody with the assistance of multiple agencies.

According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, the Sheriff's Office has slightly changed the way they perform their duties thanks to the shut down, and they are already seeing a change in calls for emergency services. While there has been an increase in "stress related" calls, intoxication-related calls are down and community members have been taking care of each other, said Furlong.

It’s a difficult time for everybody, especially those whose health has been affected by the pandemic. It’s difficult for the brave healthcare workers putting their lives at risk trying to heal the sick, and it’s difficult for the men and women spending their days and nights keeping people fed, keeping shelves stocked, making sure supplies are delivered, floors are cleaned, and everything in between.
And, it’s probably a difficult time for you too.
