Maurice White, Candidate for Carson City Supervisor Ward 2
Now that the filing period for political candidates is over it is time for voters to consider the qualifications and politics of the filed candidates. What sort of person do you want representing you in the various seats that are up for election this cycle?
It should be obvious that you will vote for the person that best fits your political sensitivities. Let's consider the local seats that are legally categorized as “nonpartisan”. In Carson City those seats are the School Trustees and the Board of Supervisors. Are you blind to party politics in these local “nonpartisan” seats? Will you take the attitude of just vote for the best candidate? I hope you will vote your political conscience.
From THE PAPERS OF JAMES MADISON: “In all political societies, different interests and parties arise out of the nature of things, and the great art of politicians lies in making them checks and balances to each other.” If you elect a Democrat to a “nonpartisan” seat that person will govern as a Democrat. A Republican will do the same as will a Green Party affiliate or a Communist, or any other Party member. A person that claims No Party Affiliation indicates they have no political conscience and will govern by chasing the wind. Believe me when I tell you that all seats, even the “nonpartisan” seats, will be filled by partisan players. There is abundant evidence to prove my point. I hope you will consider the candidates political conscience and vote for those candidates that best fit your political conscience.
As for me, I am a Constitutionalist registered as a Republican. When elected I will, at each issue presented, consider what the founders would do in this case. The founders philosophies and theories created our Constitution and are nearly perfect for today’s issues. It is of utmost importance that we return to a Constitutional Government even at the local level. Remember the second part of the Madison quote, “…the great art of politicians lies in making them checks and balances to each other.” Indeed our community needs a diverse and balanced Board of Supervisors. In this race for Carson City Supervisor Ward 2 I am the only candidate that can say they will rely on the founders principles and theories as their political conscience.
My diverse background gives me the tools to help the Board of Supervisors and city staff develop good priorities and policies that will set in place a high standard of health and safety for our residents and visitors. I am experienced in both the private and public sectors from rank and file to management levels of employment. My career included being a diesel and gasoline mechanic in on road and off road transportation, agriculture, construction, stationary and customer based repair concerns. I worked as an automotive parts outside salesperson and I was a department manager for a company supplying engines for electricity co-generation on an international level.
I believe I am the best candidate for Carson City Supervisor Ward 2. I am retired and have the time and inclination to serve this community that is my home town. I hope you will research all the Ward 2 candidates and come to the same conclusion. I am asking not just for your vote, I am asking for your support. I cannot win this election without your support.
