According to an article originally published in the Washington Post, federal agents of the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) raided Lyon County based Polymer80, a company accused of illegally manufacturing and distributing firearms, failing to pay taxes, shipping guns across state lines, and failing to conduct background investigations.

According to a press release issued by District of Columbia Attorney General Karl A. Racine in June of 2020, a lawsuit was filed against Polymer80 for selling what are described as “ghost guns.”

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. KTVN will host its annual Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive this Friday, Dec. 11 with food drop-off locations in Carson City, Minden and Reno beginning at 6 a.m. and running until 6 p.m.

The Sertoma Coat Drive is in full operation for its fourth year of collecting and distributing clothing to the people in the community who are without warm outerwear. With 19 blue barrels in Carson Valley and 7 in Carson City, everyone who wants to donate new and gently used coats, blankets, and warm outerwear is finding a donation spot.

Two Carson City leaders have teamed up to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and provide information on how families can protect themselves and others during the holidays.

MINDEN — The Board of County Commissioners held a public hearing on the proposed amendments to the Douglas County Master Plan during a Special Meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020. After considering public comment and deliberation, the amended Master Plan was adopted by the Board.

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 held a raffle drawing recently for a wooden American Flag. Proceeds from the raffle benefitted Holiday With a Hero, which is a local program that buys gifts for children and delivered by our first responders.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public and Behavioral Health is expanding the capabilities of the COVID Trace app by launching Exposure Notification Express through a partnership with Apple and Google.

Between Sunday, Dec. 6 and Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to 26 reports of Carson City homes, vehicles and a government building being shot with a BB gun causing broken windows and vehicle body damage. The dollar amount of the damage caused is more than $10,000.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 that there is an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a male Douglas County resident in his 80’s. CCHHS is also reporting 402 new cases and 6 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region.

UPDATED at 3:41PM: Arrests have been made in connection with the recent string of BB gun vandalism incidences in Carson City. Three suspects have admitted to the crimes and bb guns, pistols and rifles have been recovered, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators are working on at least 20 reports of property damage in Carson City where vandals shot at vehicles, homes, businesses, and the Nevada Secretary of State's Office. On Tuesday morning, both the Carson City Democratic and Republican headquarters were also targets of vandals.

The Carson City School District and Carson High School are pleased to announce CHS Senior Cristian Garcia Perez has been named a semifinalist for the 2021 class of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program, putting him in the running for one of the 150 college scholarships worth $20,000.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating numerous reports of property damage throughout Carson City, including the Nevada Secretary of State's Office on Musser and Carson Street, that happened Sunday night into Monday morning.

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Carson City, is pleased to announce Carson High School’s Librarian Ananda Campbell as the winner of a $5,000 grant to fund a historical documentation project titled The Story of Carson High School. Nearly a half dozen applications from teachers and teams of teachers were received for this competitive grant.
