Just before 6 a.m. Saturday morning, deputies and first responders were dispatched to College Parkway on report of a vehicle versus pedestrian.

The crash was deemed to be fatal at the scene.

College Parkway was shut down in both directions as an investigation took place.

On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, James Blueberg was an employee of the Carson City School District and driving a Carson City school bus occupied with Bordewich Bray Elementary students.

Shortly, after arriving at Bordewich Bray Elementary School, a motorist, identified as Michael Baxter approached the driver window of the school bus and made allegations of misconduct against some of the children on the bus.

Dayton resident Richard Joseph Shea died peacefully at his home on September 9, 2022. Rick was born March 3, 1954 in Fitchburg, MA and graduated from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst.

In 1977, he moved to Nevada and eventually settled in Carson City with his wife, Kristin and their children, Jesse and Tara. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Theresa Shea of Fitchburg, MA and a brother, Jack Shea of Edinburgh, UK.

54-year-old Michael Baxter was arrested Thursday night after allegedly entering a school bus while armed, and falsely imprisoning and threatening a 9-year-old child.

New details have emerged thanks to the police report.

On Thursday, it came to the attention of the Carson City School District and the Carson City Sheriff's Office that a man armed with a holstered handgun entered a school bus with elementary school students from Bordewich Bray Elementary School, and was later arrested for intimidating minors and false imprisonment.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), in coordination with the USDA, has confirmed Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in wild bird populations in Nevada after the first case was discovered in July in a backyard flock of chickens in Carson City.

Youth interested in learning more about honey bees and pollinators will love this camp. The fun and hands-on sessions will include topics such as: bee anatomy, bee care, products from the hive, planting for pollinators, honey tasting and processing, other pollinators, and what to look for in a hive inspection.

Through a spirit led walking tour of Carson City’s historical and haunted West side, this year’s theme explores “Ghost Club” a paranormal investigation and research organization, founded in 1862 and believed to be the oldest such organization in the world.

A Carson City man was arrested Thursday for suspicion of false imprisonment, threatening to cause bodily harm to a pupil, and unlawful contact with a child, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Dayton Valley Days in Old Town Dayton is a two-day event that begins Saturday, Sept. 17 and runs through Sunday and the Dayton Museum, one of Dayton’s most revered treasures, in the heart of Old Town Dayton on Logan, is open from 10 am to 4 pm both days.
