Turkey Roundup at Mike's Pharmacy
Thanksgiving food donations will be accepted on Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mike's Pharmacy, 1007 N. Curry Street. On hand will be News Talk 780 KOH AM's Ross Mitchell and Monica Jaye from 6 to 9 a.m. and talk show host Bill Manders from 3 to 6 p.m. This is the 12th annual event. Model Dairy will be contributing a trailer to keep the turkeys cold.
The Turkey Roundup began 12 years ago, and with the help of then former KOH talk show host Rusty Humphries, the program and has been an enormous success since, said Loreen Hautekeet, co-owner of Mike's Pharmacy. KOH has and continues to be a supporter.
"It's about helping our fellow citizens in our area," she said. "It is our community taking care of our community."
The Pharmacy is accepting turkeys, monetary donations, and any canned or dry food used for Thanksgiving trimmings. Call (775) 841-1400 if you wish to make a cash donation.
