CARSON CITYNevada State Medical Association President Florence Jameson said today that Gov. Brian Sandoval made a “politically courageous and correct” policy decision to expand the Nevada Medicaid program.

The decision will ensure that there will not be a new class of uninsured Nevadans when the federal health coverage changes are implemented in January 2014, said Jameson, a physician.

A Carson CIty woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a vehicle accident Thursday morning near the Cave Rock tunnel.

The accident was reported at 7:32 a.m. The preliminary crash investigation details indicate that a silver Subaru was traveling westbound on US 50 driven by Patricia Schille, 48, of Carson City, reports Trooper Daniel Lopez.

For the first time since 1987, Lake Tahoe has a new regional plan for development and land use.
Twelve of the 14 voting members of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's governing board voted in favor of the new plan, with one member voting against it and another abstaining, according to TRPA spokesman Jeff Cowan.

Business interests say the plan is an overdue overhaul of regulations that will jump-start Tahoe's tourism economy while also protecting its environment.
