A 27-year-old man accused of a deadly road rage incident in Carson City earlier this year appeared in court on Tuesday. Leonardo Cardoza pled not guilty to charges of open murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon.

Carson City Sheriff's Office patrol officers made several misdemeanor DUI-related arrests through the holiday weekend and into the first part of this week. The most recent arrest was early Tuesday morning.

A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2200 block of East William Street and faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. According to the arrest report, officers called to a casino at around 1 a.m. after a witness reported an intoxicated man was seen getting inside a truck and preparing to drive.

There will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting and walking tour to officially recognize the Carson City Freeway landscaping project and the freeway's multi-use path. The public is invited to the April 19 ceremony.

The 3 p.m. ribbon cutting will be at the Northgate Lane Grade Separation, 3700 block of Northgate Lane, followed by a walking tour from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

The average age when individuals begin engaging in prostitution is 13.  So far this year, more than 200 minors have been arrested for soliciting prostitution in Clark County alone.

The Assembly Judiciary Committee met this morning to continue a heated discussion regarding legislation that would change the way that the court system deals with minors who are arrested on prostitution charges.

An update on Murphy, the dog who had been hit on Highway 50 in Mound House last month and left for dead. He is recovering nicely in his Dog Town Rescue foster home in Carson City.

Murphy is now officially "off" his pain medication, is able to walk on his own, and is enjoying lots of treats and love from the kids in the home.

Sen. Harry Reid has announced $7.4 million in federal grants to fight homelessness in Nevada, including two awards to Carson City Department of Health and Human Services totaling $67,889.

The grants comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as part of the Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance Renewal (CoCR) awards. The CoCR programs provide funding for a range of assistance to homeless persons, including transitional housing, permanent housing and other supportive services.
