The Washoe Valley teenage girl involved in the single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday afternoon in Pleasant Valley has died from her injuries at Renown Regional Medical Center, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

A Carson City woman faces a felony forgery charge after she allegedly took a check that was given to her for $12 and altered it to $120, authorities said.

Marlena Acosta, 27, faces the felony charge, and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer, after Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies learned March 5 that a check issued to the woman from FISH for $12 — to be used to obtain a Nevada identification card from the DMV — had been altered to $120 and cashed.

Attention bartenders and Bloody Mary aficionados: There's a contest Saturday to determine which Carson City bar keep can make the tastiest, tangiest tomato juice-vodka concoction.

Remedy's Bar at 306 East William Street will hold the contest, co-sponsored by Smirnoff, which is providing the vodka. The first place winner will receive a minimum of $100 in cash. Second place winner will also receive a cash prize based on the number of entrants.

The four suspects accused of murdering state employee William McCune appeared in a Carson City courtroom on Thursday.
23-year-old Michael Evans, 20-year-old Makyla Blackmore, 22-year-old Raul Garcia and 20-year-old Anthony Elliott appeared in court for a status hearing.
Prosecutors say the four beat McCune to death, robbed his apartment and disposed of his duct-taped body in the Carson River. He was positively identified by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office through dental and medical x-rays.

The driver of a pickup may have suffered a medical condition that caused him to crash into a Carson City veterinarian clinic Thursday afternoon on North Carson Street.

Carson City Fire Department and Sheriff's Office personnel responded to the accident at Silver Hills Pet Hospital where a witness said the driver, described as being in his 30s, drove the truck with a camper directly into the front end of the animal hospital located in the 3300 block of North Carson Street. The condition of the driver was unknown Thursday evening. No animals or people inside the clinic were injured.

The popular exhibit “Slot Machines: The Fey Collection” at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City will close May 1 to make way for the upcoming Nevada Sesquicentennial exhibit : Finding Fremont: Pathfinder of the West, opening in October. While the slots are off exhibit for two years, staff will conserve the collection and plan for a traveling exhibit that could go on tour.

CARSON CITY - Halfway through the 2013 Nevada Legislative Session, a little levity may be in order. As things heat up inside the legislative chambers, members of the Nevada Assembly and Senate will take it outside on Thursday afternoon and de-stress at the biennial Legislative Softball Game.

For the third time, the event will take place at John L. Harvey Field on the campus of Western Nevada College, in the capital city. The first pitch will be at approximately 5 p.m. Admission is free.
