A 36-year-old man wanted for multiple felony warrants including luring a child, contempt of court and is a suspect in a burglary case was taken into custody Sunday after law enforcement learned where he was hiding, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

A Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatcher, who was working New Year's Eve night, had to leave her shift early for an expected emergency of her own: The birth of her child.

UPDATE 11:55PM: One person suffered minor injuries that did not require medical transport to the hospital in the Tiger Drive structure fire Sunday night, said Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini.

The fire started in an 8 foot by 8 foot outdoor detached laundry facility at 71 Tiger Drive. The fire spread was stopped as it closed in on the main living structure, Pedrini said. The mobile home had mainly exterior damage as well as smoke and water damage. An adjacent unit had some fire damage to siding.

With the new year ahead, quitting smoking is at the top of accomplishment lists for many. Carson Tahoe Health welcomes all who want to quit and to be a part of a supportive, group effort for smoking cessation. The 2024 first round of 8-week classes begins this Thursday.
