Gusty winds from Saturday's storm knocked down fences, toppled trees and power lines in Carson City as seen in photos sent to Carson Now from readers.

The Brewery Arts Center also saw tree damage, according to its Facebook page and is asking for volunteers to help clear away debris.

UPDATE: NV Energy is working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible for affected customers, according to a news release Sunday morning. Additional resources are coming in from other NV Energy regions to assist crews already working.

Outages are caused by the heavy wind throughout Northern Nevada during the evening and overnight. Northern Nevada experienced a nearly 18-hour high wind event. The wind damage includes both poles and wires down in multiple locations. Go here for the latest list of local outages.

On Jan. 11, 9:30 a.m., while the greater Reno area was digging out from over two feet of snow, the Sierra County, California Sheriff's Office contacted 775 Offroad and Recovery (775OFR) regarding a family of four, including 2 young children, stranded overnight near Stampede Reservoir in a Lincoln Navigator. 775OFR is a non-profit dedicated to recovering anyone stranded off-road, staffed entirely by volunteers, including their 24-hour dispatch line.
