A new Carson City-based company is forming to create television shows targeting Baby Boomers. The Rockin 60's is a classic rock trivia game show that will offer cash prizes and products for people who can answer trivia questions, name 60's music and identify 60's photos as part of this tv show.

The company, formed by SJ Rose, stated that research shows Baby Boomers represent the generation with the greatest buying power in the history of our country.

If you’re a fisherman or fisherwoman, it’s that time of the year to remind you to purchase your Nevada 2013-2014 fishing license.

That new fishing license year begins on March 1 and it will run through the last day in February, 2014.
As a special tip you would be well advised to purchase that new license ASAP, because if you forget, go fishing and get checked by “The Friendly Old Game Warden,” he isn’t going to be very happy nor will you.

Carson City and nearby Douglas County as well as Esmerelda and White Pine counties have been designated disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by recent drought, the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirms today in a news release.

And the following California counties contiguous to Nevada have also been declared disaster areas because of drought conditions: Alpine, El Dorado, Inyo, Mono and Placer.

A Washoe Valley woman faces felony drug and weapons charges after being stopped by Carson City patrol officers Wednesday for driving while talking on a cell phone and not wearing a seat belt.

Tina Marie Scott, 46, was arrested at Industrial Park and Hawaii Circle 5:17 p.m. after patrol officers observed the violations and then, doing a subsequent check, found drugs, money and a handgun.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will meet today beginning at 8 a.m. in the Ormsby Room of the sheriff's administration building, 911 East Musser Street. During the public comment period, wild horse advocates have said they will speak to the issue of this week's roundup of a band of wild horses near Deer Run Road.

The Bureau of Land Management began removing several horses Wednesday from the outskirts of Carson City. The horses are a part of the Pine Nut Mountains herd management area that is adjacent to Deer Run Road. The following is from Margie Quirk, a wild horse advocate, who, along with nearly two dozen residents, were unsuccessful in their attempt to convince the BLM to consider other alternatives than to trapping and moving the 11 wild horses from the area.
