Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies made numerous felony arrests over the weekend, mostly on drug and assault offenses. One arrest was for witness intimidation and threats allegedly made by an inmate in the city's jail, while another arrest was made after a man reportedly threw a wrench at a Jeep, smashing the window, while a 2-year-old was inside.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a 16-year-old female who ran away from her Minden home and has been missing for about a week.

On Feb. 23, Geolyn Balleza ran away from her parent’s home in Minden. She is believed to have run away and is somewhere between Douglas County and the Reno/Sparks area, according to Douglas County authorities.

A developing storm system will move into the region beginning late Tuesday and drop into Western Nevada and the Sierra by early Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Reno reports. The system could bring up to a foot or more of snow to the Lake Tahoe area and a few inches to Carson City.

Winds will increase ahead of the storm system along the Sierra front late Tuesday afternoon, with gusts up to 50 mph by early Tuesday night.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the Carson City man killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash in on Geiger Grade.

Kyle Banko, 24, was killed was riding his sport bike on Geiger Grade toward Reno from Virginia City on Saturday afternoon, the NHP reports.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident south of Reno Saturday afternoon that killed a 24-year-old Carson City man.
The accident happened around 2 p.m. on Geiger Grade. Troopers tell KTVN the man was on a sports bike driving down the road heading toward Reno from Virginia City and clipped a car while on a curve in a no-passing zone.

The Carson Middle School Parent Teachers Association will hold its annual Family Bingo and Chili Night fundraiser, set for Friday night, March 22, 6 p.m. at the middle school's Cafetorium on King Street. Want to know how popular this event is? Well, last year more than 500 attended.

Here is the Carson City road report for the week of March 4-10. There will be utility work along Old Hot Springs Road, Retail Drive, and Hot Springs Road.

The road will be open to through traffic, but there will be occasional lane closures with flagger controls.

On Thursday, March 7, there will be utility work along the south shoulder of U.S. Highway 50 east of Fairview Drive. No delays are expected but please use caution.

Federal officials say they have finished rounding up 11 “problem” wild mustangs in northern Nevada and that the horses will now be offered for adoption.

The last of a band that once numbered 50 mustangs were enticed into a trap last week, as concerned residents of the Carson City neighborhood watched in dismay, questioning why the Bureau of Land Management insisted on removing animals that had peacefully coexisted with surrounding homeowners for years.
