The finale fundraiser for the Watercolor Carson City plein air festival will be held Aug. 18. Thirty-three participating artists will present up to 99 paintings done en plein air during the event.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency invites the public to participate in an overview of the Connections 2050 Regional Transportation Plan, which will identify a broad range of projects, programs and strategies needed to improve Lake Tahoe’s transportation system over the next 25 years.

The Nevada Humane Society, a nonprofit animal shelter working to save animal lives in northern Nevada, will launch its Pick of the Pack fundraising raffle on Saturday, August 10 at Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota, an opportunity for the community to purchase tickets for a raffle running through Nov. 2 wherein they can win either a brand new car or $15,000 in cash while supporting homeless pets in northern Nevada.

The Carson City Planning Commission last week approved a special use permit for redevelopment changes at the old Kmart building on North Carson Street.
