Get ready to rumble Carson City.
Best Western Carson Station Hotel/Casino, partnering with Carson City Harley-
Davidson, announces its first annual Ribmaster Rumble, Carson City’s new
signature rib cook-off event, on Friday July 6 through Sunday, July 8.
Carson Station’s Ribmaster Rumble will be held in the parking lot of Carson
Station, at 900 S. Carson Street.
The concept is easy: the region’s best catering groups will compete side-by-side
to see whose ribs are the best on the tracks and who will earn the coveted title of
“Ribmaster”.

Wilbur Lane came into the world July 4, 1921 and is one of a handful of remaining World War II veterans who served on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which entered the war Dec.7, 1941 when her planes found the Japanese squadrons attacking Pearl Harbor.
“It was the most decorated ship of WWII, called The Galloping Ghost because (the Japanese) couldn’t find us,” Lane said from his home in Dayton. “Every time they bombed us, they’d announce it on the radio in Japan.”

CARSON CITY – Gov. Brian Sandoval today signed an Executive Order establishing the Governor’s Interagency Council on Veterans Affairs.

Executive Order 2012-15 creates the council to work to identify and prioritize the needs of Nevada’s veterans.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies Monday morning arrested Thomas Dean Caudill, 31, of Carson City, for felony kidnapping with a deadly weapon, and felony assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the arrest report, the suspect allegedly threatened two females with a large knife at a party in the 900 block of South Minnesota. His bail was set at $100,000.

CARSON CITY – Assemblyman Harvey Munford, D-Las Vegas, said today he will try again with a bill in the 2013 session to impose a fee on some items sold at fast-food restaurants in an effort to help combat the national obesity epidemic.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will be discussing on Thursday an amendment to the previous redevelopment incentive loan package offered to Micheal Hohl Motors to keep the company's three dealerships in the county.

The company has already received $2.4 million in redevelopment funds that was used to help build the new Honda and Subaru dealerships on South Carson Street, and is preparing to take out the remaining $2.4 million for remodeling of the GM dealership.

CARSON CITY – The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange is moving forward to ensure that Nevada will have a state based exchange operational by Oct. 1, 2013, following the Supreme Court ruling Thursday upholding most of the federal health care law.

To date the Exchange has been awarded approximately $24.7 million in federal grants to pay for its establishment and implementation.
