Next month is Bike Month and there are plenty of activities planned in Carson City. We kick off on April 24 with Nevada Moves Day at the State Legislature.
Muscle Powered is organizing exhibits in the front foyer of the legislative building highlighting Nevada groups working for better walking and biking. Participants include the Reno Bike Project, Safe Routes to Schools, the Carson Valley Trails Association and more.

An action-packed week filled with music, arts, books, Nevada political history and more will be featured as Carson City Library celebrates National Library week.

Special events kick off Monday, 6 p.m., at the library auditorium with “The Lure of Music, a Human Universal” presented by internationally-recognized music scholar Fredric Lieberman, Ph.D., a distinguished professor of music at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

A cold front will move through the Sierra and Western Nevada beginning Sunday night bringing breezy conditions to Carson City and snow showers to Lake Tahoe through Monday, the National Weather Service in Reno reports.

There's a slight chance of rain showers Sunday night after 11 p.m. with a stronger possibility for rain showers Monday and Monday night. Snow levels with this cold system are expected to drop to 5,100 feet, according to the weather service.

Here is the Carson City road construction, maintenance and utility report through April 21. Due to continued construction of the Carson City Freeway project, Snyder Avenue is closed between E. Roland Street and Center Drive.

Center Drive and Silver Sage Drive are also closed south of Appion Way. Bennett Avenue is closed between Center Drive and Bigelow Drive. Detours will be marked.

Utility work will continue on W. Washington Street between Curry Street and Carson Street and then continue north on Carson Street from Washington Street north towards Hot Springs Road.

A manhunt ended at the Carson High School bus yard early Friday night with the arrest of a suspect believed to have intentionally rammed a Carson City Sheriff's patrol vehicle after a chase in a stolen car late Thursday.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies had been searching for the man since Thursday night and found him hiding inside a school bus in the vehicle maintenance yard of Carson High School. Edward Carol, 31, was taken into custody at 5:24 p.m.

Conti discusses achievement, decision-making, and balancing career and family. She also details her work in emergency management, as well as her volunteer coordinating work with the Washoe County Domestic Violence Task Force.

The following food inspection report is made weekly by the Carson City Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division. This report is for the week ending April 12.

Inspections include several restaurants, delis and bakeries, a non-profit dining hall; a casino bar and lounge, a take and bake; a convenience store and a retail grocer's meat, deli, produce and bakery departments.
