More details have emerged following an arrest Friday in which several Carson City officers attempted to arrest a man, who reportedly had displayed abnormal human strength. The 35-year-old Carson City man, Tyrone Michael Tyson, faces multiple charges including battery and assault on police officers and resisting.
The arresting officer in the incident, who was injured, said in his seven years on the force, he had "never been in a fight this violent where all less lethal weapons were not effective." The Nevada Highway Patrol and Douglas County also responded to assist.

The man who famously spent two years in a Nevada prison for prematurely setting fire to the Burning Man effigy in 2007 has died, according to news reports.
Paul Addis, a longtime Burner and artist fed up with the way Burning Man was being organized, died after he jumped in front of a moving BART train at Embarcadero station on Saturday night, according to multiple Bay Area news reports. He was 42.

Carson City officers arrested five people on Saturday with two facing felony assault charges after a fight at the former Toads Bar in Carson City.
Officers responded to the bar in the 300 block of William Street at 10:22 p.m. where they observed two men dragging, kicking and punching a man near the front entrance. Arresting officers ordered the men involved in the melee to the ground, which they complied, according to the arrest report.

NIXON, Nev. – Wayne Burke, Tribal Chairman of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe died early Sunday morning in Nixon. Burke, hailed as a passionate advocate for Native American Veterans affairs and water rights to Pyramid Lake was 38 years old.

With all the latest news of widespread doping and cheating in professional bicycle racing, it really got me thinking of how much racing has influenced today’s cycling. Most of us have never even raced, or have only dabbled in competition. Yet I find it interesting that we that call ourselves cyclists have probably at one time or another been influenced by racing, whether it be a bicycle purchase, new parts, a flashy jersey, or an uncontrollable urge to go tackle a mountain pass after watching a stage of the Tour de France.
