Comment on Why do so many Nevada high school grads need “catching up” before they can take college courses? by IcedT

It seems as if the schools have failed miserably. I was under the impression that high school was to prepare students for an easy transition to college, the military or into the work force.

Comment on Nevada is greening…slowly by Dave Morgan

That’s certainly an option. The new “nodule” type nuclear fuel technology is nothing like the old stuff. It’s touted as being far safer. Worth exploring for sure.

Comment on Nevada is greening…slowly by EternalOptimist

I would love to see Nevada build nuclear power plants, give Nevadans free energy and sell the excess to neighboring states.

Comment on Final decisions on new freeway landscaping, Part 2 by maddog

That is a great point about ongoing maintenance. I believe that this is one of the rare grants that indeed maintenance was included.

Comment on Why do so many Nevada high school grads need “catching up” before they can take college courses? by LVIEJO

Often times the fault does not lay with the teachers, but rather with the fact that “some kids” are just not ready for learning; everyone develops differently; some are ready for say 10th grade som

Comment on Nevada is greening…slowly by Dave Morgan

Unfortunately it is becoming more and more apparent that the countries and environments of the world are much more tightly connected than we’ve been willing to acknowledge.

Growing up in Ely taught me several things. One of which is the importance of sustainable jobs in a rural area.

Comment on Nevada on the brink of… by dhataway

I had a friend once who was a staunch conservative and always called for lower taxes and less government until one day his wife had a debilitating stroke.

Comment on Final decisions on new freeway landscaping, Part 2 by Aaron Highe

How nice. But has any grant money been secured for upkeep and maintainence? These structures will be irresistable and will be damaged, defaced and tagged nightly.

Comment on Governor calls for cuts – Democrats demand cuts be “least damaging” for health care and students by DE Boy

Gibbons is doing the wrong things to help Nevada. Many Nevadans are going to be suffering because of him. We are in a sorry situation.

Comment on The internet strikes again – Hollywood Video closing stores by Dave Morgan

Thank you! Error on my part!

Comment on Sheriff’s race getting crowded by carson knows all

Passion, conviction, character, morality, and drive is what I see in this young man. I can see he truely wants to make a difference and that its no status thing with him.

Storytime with Miss Sarah

She started with the standard "I am so proud to be an American," paid respect with "happy birthday Ronald Reagan," and almost blew it with a lame "ice tea" joke.

Comment on The internet strikes again – Hollywood Video closing stores by memnv

I’m sad they chose to close this store, I prefer it over the south Carson store, Just so you know it’s not near Saliman, thats Blockbuster. It is near Stewart

Comment on Sheriff’s race getting crowded by Kowalski

So proud of Mr. Guimont! I had the honor of attending last night along with almost 300 other citizens! The show of POSITIVE support was so motivating.

Comment on Talking about landscaping our freeway, Part 1 by Dave Morgan

The freeway landscaping is being paid for out of federal highway frunds. Not local Carson City tax dollars.

Comment on Teachers Union and Washoe County School officlals fire criticism at Governor Gibbons for his continue mantra of “No New Taxes.” by LVIEJO

NEVADANS TAXES HAVE TO RAISED-THERE IS NO $$$$$$ 3/4 CENT ACROSS THE BOARD; IN ADDITION A 3-5 CENT TAX ON FUEL-THIS THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THIS MESS-CUTTING JOBS , OBVIOUSLY IS NOT THE ANSWER-THAT JUS

Comment on Talking about landscaping our freeway, Part 1 by tknutson

I agree. Gibbons is considering a plan that would result in shutting down our community colleges and stopping all university athletics in the state, but we have money to decorate a freeway?

Comment on Parks and Rec Commissioner Sean Lehmann running for Supervisor Ward One by SeanLehmann

Auditor: I agree that renting an ice rink for 8 weeks is a poor investment, that’s why I’ve supported a permanent rink that could also be used in the summer as a splash pad.

Comment on Parks and Rec Commissioner Sean Lehmann running for Supervisor Ward One by the auditor

Sean, Can’t belive you think that a taxpayer support for a small few is such a good idea. I belive the investment in the V & T was a much better communityinvestment than an ice rink for 8 weeks.

Comment on Commentary from Supervisor Pete Livermore: “Let the people vote on the Nugget Project” by Nevada Man

I will be much more comfortable if this project will be decided by the people of Carson City instead of a board of easy-to-impress supervisors.

Comment on Talking about landscaping our freeway, Part 1 by ce89403

Where is the funding for this project coming from? Considering the state of the economy, should we be worried about landscaping?

Comment on They’re going after NSP again… by 33woody

Would this transfer jobs out of Northern Nevada to Southern Nevada? Is Jim Gibbons a better friend to Southern Nevada? This guy has to go and the sooner the better!

The partnership with the Nugget for the revitilization of our East of the River Downtown

Comment on Sheriff Furlong talks about why he’s running for a third term. Part 2 by Kowalski

To me this sounds like a put on… Furlong does very well in articulating the problems. But has no way to combat the problems. Where are these plans Mr. Furlong?

Comment on Sheriff Furlong talks about why he’s running for a third term by Kowalski

I didnt see much on here that he is planning to change or make better. Its sounds like he doesnt have any real plans on how to effect the problems we have here in town.

Comment on Commentary from Supervisor Pete Livermore: “Let the people vote on the Nugget Project” by IcedT

In my opinion, Livermore has always been the voice of reason on the BOS. It should go to the voters it’s our taxes being put to use.

Comment on Commentary from Supervisor Pete Livermore: “Let the people vote on the Nugget Project” by Dave Morgan

As usual, clear and to the point. Yes building program operations costs a lot of money, whether a recreation center or a library.
