Reggae Arttist to Perform at Club Envy

European Roots Reggae artist Martin Zobel and his band Soulrise will perform at Carson City’s Club Envy on Friday September 28th. Born and raised in Germany, Zobel is a popular and integral part of the European Reggae scene. His latest album, Land of the Free, is the result of a month long collaboration with Reggae legend Fully Fullwood. The album went straight to the top of the German Reggae charts. It was just released in the United States and now Zobel and his band Soulrise are embarking on their first US tour.

The now Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, founding member of iconic rock band The Jefferson Airplane and of long-touring band Hot Tuna and legendary guitarist in his own right, plays High Sierra Brewing Company, Thursday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. in a show produced by Chili Bop Entertainment.

Science Cafe' "Graphene"

The talk will cover a brief history of graphene along with a bit of quantum mechanics to help describe some of the material's more interesting properties. The range of interesting and unique properties makes graphene a candidate for a huge range of potential applications. A list of some of the more exciting ones will be covered. The talk will conclude with a summary of what might happen with graphene research in the future.
Fashion Show Presented by Pookie's Playhouse and the Carson City Library

This event will feature local children modeling clothing from Pookie's Playhouse during story time at the library. It will start at 10:15 am and end at 10:45 am. Pookies Playhouse is located at 113 Rice St. in Carson City Nevada and opened it's doors in June. Flyers for this event are posted at the Carson City Library and Pookie's Playhouse. A number of libraries are celebrating Library Card Sign-up Month with various promotions and events.
The primary event at the Carson City Library will be a “Concert on the Grass at Your Library” Friday, September 28th from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in front of the library. Live music will be provided by “Deep Groove” a trio whose members are Mark Ashworth on drums and vocals, Dan Lancaster on sax, clarinet and flute, and John Shipley on keyboard and vocals.

Travis Brass consists of five full-time active duty professional musicians working in support of Air Mobility Command and the US Air Force. From a standard march or traditional brass composition to jazz, ragtime and patriotic selections, Travis Brass’ diverse repertoire covers a myriad of styles with something to please everyone.
Millennium Bugs to Perform Sept. 7 at Silver Oak in Carson City

The musicians are Gil Linsley, trumpet; Dan Lancaster, sax, flute, clarinet; David Bugli, keyboard; Charles DiLaura, bass; and Neil Strocchio, drums. The group plays a variety of jazz styles for listening and dancing.

Harvest Book Sale

All books for sale are newly donated. We have a large assortment of fiction and nonfiction, adult and children's books, hardcovers and paperbacks. Since their childhood in Massachusetts and watching older brother Peter pursue a successful music career (he sometimes joins them) they have collectively and individually created diverse music careers driven by passion and great songwriting.
Strings in the Schools program begins Sept. 5

Strings in the Schools, directed by the Symphony's Education Director, Sue Jesch, provides free beginning violin lessons for students grades 2-5 and ensemble/orchestra experience for string students in all grades. Tuition and books are subsidized by the Carson City Symphony Association.
Jazz All-Stars Display at Carson City Library until August 31

Roop Street. The exhibit is part of Mile High Jazz Band's 2012 Jazz & Beyond - Carson City Music Festival. Although festival musical performances have ended, the exhibit will continue during library hours until August 31.

Offering a line-up that ranges from jazz and world music to American rock and country, this season showcases some of the best talent from Nevada and California.
"Each year, the concert series has grown and we have enjoyed a wide range of music by talented performers, all of whom bring something special to the table," said Charlie Abowd, chef and co-owner of Cafe at Adele's.

PJ Walsh has toured with the stars of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. You may have also heard him on Sirius Satellite Radio. This US war veteran creates comedy that does more than make you laugh. Coming in October you will see PJ as one of 12 International “Tier 1” operators included in the highly anticipated “Medal of Honor: Warfighter” video game.
