Carson City Moose Lodge, Feisty Goat host Mill's Park Wine Train July 14
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 07/08/2023 - 12:00pmOn July 14, the Carson City Moose Lodge 2709 is having the second annual wine train event in Mills Park from 4:30 to 7:00. There will be three train stops for the riders get off and taste some premium wines and craft beers.
Each ticket allows for 10 samplings and only 100 tickets will be sold for the price of $20 per ticket.
Carson City Park Rangers open second 'Team Scorpion Search' event July 28

Individuals anywhere from 9 to 90 are invited to attend this program, where they’ll be able to learn about 26 different opportunities for gaining life skills and helping others.
All volunteers will earn a computer after 48 hours of volunteering, and snacks and refreshments will be served. Free lunch Monday through Saturday at noon.
Help sought to help furnish new FISH family student housing apartment units in Carson City

As of June 2023, the exterior of the two apartment buildings is 95 percent completed with side paneling, roofing, balconies, window installations, paint, and planted trees.
Introduction to Fly Fishing
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 06/12/2023 - 2:59pmThe Carson Fly Fishing Club will conduct an Introductory Fly-Fishing Class July 21, 6:00 PM and July 22, all day starting at 10:30 AM at the Ormsby Room, Carson City Sheriff's Office, at 911 E. Musser St., Carson City.
The course will cover equipment, casting, entomology, flies, and knots & leaders. The casting portion will be late afternoon at Baily Pond on July 22. The purpose of the class is to learn the basic techniques of fly fishing. This will be the twenty-first year that the Carson Fly Fishing Club has presented this class free to the public.

Nevada Department of Agriculture names Doug Farris as Deputy Director

Farris previously served as the Division of Animal Industry Administrator from 2017 and has been serving as interim Deputy Director since March of 2023.
