Carson City Assessor’s Office encourages property owners to verify their 2023/2024 TAX CAP status
The Carson City Assessor’s Office would like to encourage property owners of residential properties to verify their 2023/2024 TAX CAP status via the Assessor’s website here to ensure that your form has been received and updated.
The purpose of this form is to identify and inform the Assessor’s Office whether the residence is your primary residence, a vacation home (not rented), is family member occupied, or a rental.
NRS 361.471 through NRS 361.4735 provides for a partial abatement of property taxes and is commonly referred to as the “Tax Cap”. For property that is your primary residence in Nevada OR property that is rented at or below the low-income housing (HUD) rent level, you may file this claim form to receive the “Low Tax Cap”, which cannot exceed 3%. All other types/uses of qualifying property receive the “High Tax Cap”, which cannot exceed 8%.
If you feel that your property has not been updated, you can submit your form online, go to www.carson.org - “Government” - “Assessor” – “File Property Tax Cap Claim Form” or use this link here.
You can also email your form to assessor@carson.org or mail it to the address on the top of the form. Please contact the Assessor’s office at 775-887-2130 should you have any questions.
