Carson Little League thanks our Community for their awesome support

I wanted to take some time to send out a special thank you to the awesome Businesses and people in our community who helped support our Junior and Senior Little League All Stars advancement to the Western Regional Tournaments in Vancouver WA and Ontario, CA this year! With out their support this would not have been possible for these fine athletes. Our Juniors (13-14 year olds) and Seniors (15-16 year olds) both Finished 1 and 3 in their tournaments and failed to advance to the Little League World Series but had an experience that most kids never have had.

BoozeFighters Chapter 32 Fundraiser

Carson City Democratic Womens Club Bi-Annual "Meet the Candidates" BBQ To Feature Shelley Berkley

Democratic candidate for US Senate, Congressman Shelley Berkeley will be speaking to the Carson City Democratic Women's Club Biennial Meet the Candidates BBQ on Saturday August 25th. The BBQ is being held at the backyard of 1001 Arrowhead Dr. from 1 to 4 PM. Cost is $20.00, children under 12 are free. There will be lots of food, raffle prizes and many other candidates for local offices that will also provide a brief statement of their qualifications and interests. Nicole Larrimore named Marketing Coordinator for Nevada Rural Housing Authority

Nicole Larrimore has been named as the new Mortgage and Marketing Coordinator for the Nevada Rural Housing Authority. The position was recently created to provide information about the NRHA’s housing assistance programs to mortgage lenders, banks, realtors, brokers, title and hazard insurance companies and prospective homebuyers. She will serve as the NRHA liaison to lenders and build relationships with the home buying and real estate community to better serve their needs.

Bargain Book Sale

The Friends of the Carson City Library are having their annual Bargain Book Sale Friday and Saturday, August 10th and 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Sale will be held at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop Street. All hardcover books will be priced at $1.00, paperbacks at 2 for $1.00 and children's books at 4 for $1.00. Also for sale will be videos and records at 10 for $1.00. There will be a preview sale Thursday, August 9th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for members of the Friends of the Library. If you're not a member yet you can join at the door.

Carson Little League Senior and Junior All Star Players need your help!!!

On Tuesday July 23rd Carson City Little League Senior All Stars (15/16 year old) did something that has not been done Since the early 1990's. They won a State Title by defeating Mountain Ridge Little league from Las Vegas in the Championship game at Governors Fields. With this win, they now have the ability to send 12 players and 3 coaches to the Little League Western Regional Tournament in Ontario California.

Prehistoric Rock Art at Sierra Place

The Sierra Place presents an open gallery and lecture on “Storied Landscapes: Prehistoric Rock Art of Nevada” on July 30, at 2:30 P.M.
Rock art is one of Nevada’s most significant pieces of its history. Pictures of these creations that were achieved by ancient hunter foragers will be displayed with many styles, themes, and cultural rock art of Nevada. This event is free and opened to the public.

New Campus Celebration with Silver State Charter School

Carson City’s Cycle Pub will take part in Saturday’s I-580 Freeway opening. The vehicle will be sponsored by Carson City Commercial Real Estate Agent Brad Bonkowski.

Bonkowski wants to call attention to the freeway opening, saying it is good news for Carson City. The faster commute time between Carson City and the I-80 manufacturing corridor will help the area attract small manufacturing and industrial businesses.

Angela Hamlett and Bill Thompson married on the steps of the Carson City Courthouse, Saturday July 21, 2012 at 11:30 am. The happy couple met September 2, 2002 in Richmond Virginia. They moved to Bill’s hometown Carson City Nevada back in November 2005. Bill and Angela were engaged for five years before tying the knot Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson reside at their home in Dayton Nevada. Reception will be held at thier home Saturday July 28, 2012

Arts Center Holds Public Business Meeting

The Brewery Arts Center board will hold its annual Membership Business Meeting on Tuesday, July 24, at 5:30 P.M.
The meeting is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to share their thoughts and inputs of how the BAC can better serve the needs of the Carson City community. There will also be an opportunity to meet the board and staff of the BAC.
The meeting will be located at the Brewery Art Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449. W. King Street.

Carson City Road Report for July 16-22

There will be nightly lane closures on US 395 from the junction of US 50W (Spooner) to 1st Street in Minden, Sunday through Thursday, between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. There will be flagger controlled traffic. Please drive with caution.

There will be work at the following locations as a result of the Freeway Landscaping Project. Traffic control may be in effect.

  • North Carson Street, in the vicinity of the freeway overpass.
  • Arrowhead Drive between N. Carson Street and Garnet Way.
  • College Parkway in the vicinity of the Freeway.

Carson City School Board Meeting for July 24

The Carson City School District will be holding a school board meeting on Tuesday, July 24 at 7 P.M. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center on 851 E. William Street.

The topics that will be discussed in this meeting are updates on Phase I School Bond Projects; such as parking lots, interior and building improvements at Fremont, Seeliger, and Mark Twain Elementary Schools, followed by proposed changes to the CCSD Policies.
